I Commute From … — Milford

Andrew Grembowski, Junior Elementary Education major, lives in Rochester right now, but an hour west — slightly south — resides his hometown of Milford.

Demographically, not much is different from Rochester’s upper middle class suburbanites, yuppies, and older people. There are teenagers, but with nothing to do, they are not often seen around. Milford’s crime and politics are also pretty quiet.

“Milford cops have no crime to deal with, even less than Rochester cops, so they will ticket for anything and everything,” warns Andrew.. Also, much like Rochester — much like Michigan, as a matter of fact — businesses and plazas are closing.

If one were to be stuck in the city for a day, any 16-to-24-year-old might want to enjoy the outdoors rather than peruse downtown. Central park is a popular hangout for kids of the area, but he likes to visit Kensington —  a huge metropark that spans a couple cities and offers beaches, trails and plenty of  opportunities for photography.

He’s never made a regular commute from Milford to OU because he moved to Rochester a month before he started attending, but the occasional visit on a weekend he takes Walton there or Walton to M59 to go visit

family and old friends. An interesting fact about the city of Milford is thanks to water power, it was one of the first places to have electric lights in the late 1800s.
