Album Spotlight: Ariel Pink Pom Pom

Indie pop’s leading mad genius Ariel Pink is back with a new album Pom Pom, released on 4AD Records. On his first album under his own name, Pink touches on everything from weird 80’s style synth numbers (“White Freckles”) to funky dance bangers about strippers (“Black Ballerina”) to dreamy, romantic sing-alongs about scoring digits (“Put Your Number In My Phone”). Pom Pom is a huge, weird grab bag of pop styles, with 17 songs in total. While the variety and amount of songs may seem daunting, don’t be intimidated; Pink’s album includes something for everyone.

Listen if you like: Mac DeMarco, Animal Collective, The 80’s.

Start with: “Put Your Number In My Phone”, “Black Ballerina”, and “White Freckles”.
