Republican presidential candidate John McCain will be on Oakland University’s campus for a Town Hall Meeting on Wednesday, May 7 at 10 a.m.

Following his opening statements, in which he is to discuss human trafficing and freedom of religion, among other issues, McCain will field questions from those in attendance, according to Crystal Benton, a spokesperson for McCain.

McCain, 71, has had the GOP nomination wrapped up since March 4.

Though recent polls have shown that McCain and both Democratic hopefuls Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are virtually tied, a poll conducted by Harvard’s Institute of Politics between March 11 and April 1 indicated that McCain would come out on the losing end in matchups against both Obama and Clinton, among voters 18-24 years old.

While Benton said that locations for McCain’s events are chosen for numerous reasons, she did say that “colleges are great locations to speak to young voters and for students to get to know Sen. McCain.”
