Ping.fm connects your online social networks
By Erik Anderson
Welcome to the new Technology Blog for The Oakland Post.
Are you a member of a handful of social networks such as MySpace or Facebook? What if you could update all of these services from one website? Now you can, with the help of Ping.fm.
The site is designed to update your entire social network from one main website. Ping.fm includes support for up to 40 different services, including most of the major sites. Facebook, MySpace, Tumblr, Flickr, WordPress, Twitter and many more are able to be updated through either the Ping.fm website, instant message, text message or mobile phone software. You can also post to one service or group-post to several services at once. Users also have the option to install third- party applications that add additional posting features and options to Ping.fm.
One note of warning: Be sure to unlink any services you have connected together independently of Ping.fm. For example, if your Twitter account is connected to auto-forward to Facebook, remove that setting. Otherwise, when you post from Ping.fm, there’s a good chance you could add the same post to your sites multiple times.
Ping.fm is free, and can be used on a PC, Mac, or Linux computer.
