Candidates announced for GOP Presidential Debate, Nov. 9

Late Wednesday night, CNBC, one of the sponsors of the GOP Presidential Debate, officially announced the names of the eight candidates who will be on Oakland University’s campus on Nov. 9 to discuss the economy, unemployment and the future of America’s jobs.

The candidates include Texas Gov. Rick Perry, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, former senator Rick Santorum, Rep. Michele Bachmann, business executive Herman Cain, former House speaker Newt Gingrich; former U.S. ambassador to China and former Utah Gov. Jon Hunstman; and Rep. Ron Paul.

This is the ninth debate for the GOP and will feature of the theme “Your money, your vote.” It is the only debate to be held in the state of Michigan.

The debate will be aired on CNBC on Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. A watch party for will be held in the Banquet Rooms in the Oakland Center from 5:30 – 10 p.m for selected individuals. Students who wish to participate will be selected by lottery and alerted by Monday, Nov. 7.
