Students begin moving out of off-campus housing

Two weeks after 31 students had to be placed at the Homestead Studio Suites Hotel due to overbooked on-campus housing, some of those students are moving back to campus.

According to Housing Director Jim Zentmeyer, the number of students residing at the hotel is down to 18. The three females previously residing at the Homestead Studio Suites Hotel have been moved to permanent on-campus housing. The remaining population is 50 percent freshman and 50 percent upperclassman.

Zentmeyer previously said that the status of housing placements tends to change quite a bit during the first few weeks of the school year.

He expects things to stabilize after Sept. 18, the last day to drop classes with a full tuition refund. After that, there will be migration from the hotel to the residence halls.

The Oakland Post will continue updating this story as more information becomes available.
