Student waives right to preliminary examination

Reanna Douglas, an Oakland University student who was charged with criminal sexual conduct of the third degree, waived her right to a preliminary exam at her hearing at the 52-3 Oakland County District Court in front of Judge Julie Nicholson Tuesday.

Douglas, who is represented by lawyer John Freeman, asked Nicholson to lift her order that refrains her from drinking or using controlled substances.

Nicholson disagreed, explaining the ban was necessary for this case, and the ban stayed intact.

Douglas is also required to submit to and pay for preliminary breath tests and/or urinalysis at the court’s discretion and pay for all medications if deemed necessary, according to court documents.

She is also prohibited from possessing firearms, from assaultive behavior and must continue to work and attend school, according to court documents.

Douglas is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old female, according to reports obtained from the court office.

According to court documents, Douglas, 21, was the coach of the Lake Orion High School girl’s lacrosse team when the offense allegedly occurred.

She was terminated from her position at the high school after the allegations were reported to the Oakland County Sherrif’s Office Orion Township Substation by the 15-year-old’s family in August.

Criminal sexual conduct in the third degree is a felony charge, and is  punishable to up to 15 years if found guilty.

In cases of CSC III, the victim is between the ages of 13 and 15, according to the Sex Offender Registration Act.

Douglas’ next court date has not yet been determined.
