Search for permanent dean of the College of Arts and Sciences continues

A nationwide search has been ongoing for a permanent dean of the College of Arts and Sciences at Oakland University.

A committee was formed in the fall of 2012, which is currently working with a search firm called Academic Search. Psychology professor Todd Shackelford is serving as chair.

The current acting dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Tamara Jhashi, has been in this position since late August after being selected to serve.

The new dean will assume office July 2013.

According to the Academic Search guidelines, a successful candidate will possess an earned doctorate and the credentials necessary for a tenured appointment in a college department at the rank of professor.

OU is also looking for a candidate that has significant leadership in an academic environment (according to who?).

The submission period to apply will end Feb. 22.

The review of application will begin at the close of the submission period, according to Jhashi.

“Academic Search is also engaged with assisting the current open searches for provost as well as the dean for the School of Business Administration,” Jhashi said.

I know this has one source, we’re working on it. Just take a look at it now, please. -Natalie
