The Student Program Board hosted the Spring Hoedown Feb. 6 in the Banquet Rooms of the Oakland Center.

“We wanted to bring a bit of country flair to the students,” Carin Inglis, mainstage director of SPB, said. “It’s a great way to just chill and relax after a long day.”

The evening included a performance by country singer Brynn Marie, who performed some of her own original work as well as covers of other songs. Students were also served country fare including chili, fried chicken, macaroni and cheese, cornbread muffins and root beer.

“It’s nice to have a country event like this,” Inglis said. “Students have been asking us for awhile to put on a show like this.”

SPB usually puts on a spring show, but Inglis said it has never been a country performance.

“We’ve never put on an event like this before,” Inglis said. ”It’s just nice to see it come together so well.”

Students were able to leave with mason jars filled with treats as a way to remember the night.

“Good food, a great singer and a good time,” freshman, Chris Winn, said. “It’s nice to see students come together like this and enjoy themselves.”
