Adams comedy night to feature Mike Green

Comedian Mike Green said he’s performed in over 600 fundraising comedy shows.

Green will add to that number when he performs in Rochester Adams High school’s fundraising comedy show Saturday, Feb. 9 at 8 p.m. The comedy show will be held in RAHS’s auditorium with a $20.00 general admission.

The Adams Booster Club, along with the Athletic Department for Adams High school, helped plan the comedy show.

Jason Rapp, athletic director for RAHS, said this is the first time they’ve (RAHS) put on this type of event.

“The event only took a couple of months to plan, and of course we needed to set aside time to order and sell tickets,” Rapp said. “There is supposed to be another comedian performing but I am not aware who the second one will be, as of yet.”

The proceeds will go toward the Adams High school athletics program and each ticket holder will receive a $10 off $50 or more coupon to use at Busch’s Fresh Food Market. Each ticket holder will also be eligible for a door prize, according to Roth.

Green, who was voted “Best Comedian” by Hour Magazine in 2011, has performed both locally and internationally.

“I spend about 32 weeks on the road per year but I try to make it home at least once a week to see my family,” Green said.

He said although he’s performed on many great shows, his most memorable was performing on Jerry Lewis Telethon in 2002.

“I got to meet him (Jerry Lewis) afterwards, it was so cool,” Green said.

Green remembers his first comedy show being at a teen club in Fraser.

“The club was held at a church and although the church is still there, I’m not sure if the club still exists but I’ve been doing comedy ever since,” Green said.

The year was 1986. Green is still at it 27 years later.

Green, a Roseville native, now resides in Clinton Township.

He said his son (who attends stony creek high school) will be attending his high school snowball the same night as the comedy show.

“Although I won’t get to take him, I’ll sure be there to pick him up afterward,” Green said. “On a lighter note, I’m hilarious. Go look at my website.”
