Orgy to slide its way into the Machine Shop

The band Orgy will play Saturday at the Machine Shop in Flint for the Wide Awake and Dead tour with Vampires Everywhere! and Davey Suicide.

In 2011, controversy surrounded the band when founder Jay Gordon decided to continue playing Orgy music without any other original members. A statement made on his Facebook page noted the other members of the band were too busy to continue playing with Orgy.

The reason for the split was uncovered when a feud between him and guitarists Ryan Shuck and Amir Derakh was brought to light. Gordon continued with new members Carlton Bost and Ashburn Miller both on guitar and keyboard, Nick Speck on bass and Jamie Miller on drums.

After years of hiatus there are a lot of new things to expect from Orgy.

“We’ll be playing this song (in Michigan) that we haven’t played live yet. It’s called ‘Suck It.’ I think that’s my favorite right now,” Gordon said.

Orgy’s new single “Grime of the Century” could be interpreted as a statement to clean up California or a plea to support the current environmental push in America. Gordon describes the single as, “a song about people, not about LA being dirty or smog or anything, just sometimes people aren’t always the funnest.”
