Marissa Getschman

Marissa Getschman, Arts Editor

Marissa Getschman is a Junior at Oakland University studying Vocal Music Education. Marissa has hopped on and off the journalism train since grade school, finally landing in an editor position at her community college’s newspaper in 2022, thanks to her sister’s insistence that she apply. Now, three years later, she’s excited to be back on a newspaper as the Arts Editor for the Oakland Post.

Many forms of art have captivated Marissa for as long as she can remember. From handmade artwork to stage performance, she’s happiest when she’s creating something designed to make others smile. The best way to make a career out of such an ideal is to teach others how to do the same. After her time at Oakland University, Marissa will be certified to teach K-12 choir. For the time being, she will have to settle for conducting her choir of four cats at home.
