OUPD and Housing play for charity
The Oakland University Police Department and University Housing recently squared off in a game of softball in the name of charity.
The event took place April 21 at Civic Center Park in Auburn Hills across from campus and raised over $700, with all proceeds going to HAVEN of Oakland County. In addition to the game, which housing won, there were also prizes and a 50/50 raffle, the winner of which donated the prize money to HAVEN as well.
“HAVEN was selected as the charity because we utilize their services a lot on campus with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence,” said officer Nicole Thompson. “We wanted to take an opportunity to thank them for everything they do.”
Thompson and Dave Tindall, assistant director of housing, organized the event and hope to turn it into an annual tradition.
