Charitable Gaming Policy passed by trustees
Oakland University’s Board of Trustees passed a revised Charitable Gaming Policy as well as appointed its new Trustee Emeritus Advisor position during the meeting yesterday.
The Charitable Gaming Policy regulates gaming events on campus such as bingo, raffle parties and others as fundraising for the university with guidelines to ensure that any event is authorized by the university and follows applicable board of trustees policies.
The board of trustees also established a brand new position, the trustee Emeritus Advisor. University President Gary D. Russi recommended Dennis Pawley, a former Board of Trustees member for the position. Pawley received the position.
“The university board of trustees recognizes the value of utilizing the judgment of experienced trustees whose terms have expired but do possess a deep knowledge about Oakland University and who have participated in important and strategic positions during their 10 years as trustees,” Russi said.
Some of the position requirements include that the Trustee Emeritus Advisor may assist the board upon request by the board chair at any time and the Trustee will not have the authority, duties or responsibilities of a Trustee.
