Oakland to swim 12-hour relay for clean water foundation

The Golden Grizzlies men’s and women’s swim teams will be participating in a 12-hour continuous relay on March 31 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. to raise money and awareness for the clean water foundation “Water to Water.”

The organization is run by Thirst Relief International — which is based in Westerville, Ohio — and is dedicated to providing clean water solutions to those around the world that are unable to do so.

The event will result in over 30 miles being swam for the cause and will be open to other Oakland University students who would like to participate.

Thirst Relief has estimated that 1.1 billion people live without drinkable water and an estimated two million people die every year due to water related illnesses.

All proceeds from Water to Water will go directly to the cause.
