AAUP, Oakland University extend faculty contracts for the fifth time

With 11 days remaining before the start of the fall semester, the American Association of University Professors and Oakland University have extended the 2009 faculty contracts for the fifth time, after both sides failed to reach an agreement by a 5 p.m. Friday deadline.

The two sides agreed to extend the contract until Tuesday, Aug. 28 at midnight.

According to AAUP President Karen Miller, the only thing left on the negotiation table that remains unsettled is financial issues.

“My assumption is that everything on the table is literally financial stuff or faculty benefits,” Miller said.

The two sides are scheduled to resume negotiations on Monday, Aug. 27.
