Three parking lots to begin allowing overnight parking
Parking lot 1, 3 and 29 will be opening for overnight parking starting March 23. The plan was announced at today’s Oakland University Student Congress Meeting by Director of University Housing Jim Zentmeyer.
The initiative was made in order to make up for the loss of 200 parking spaces in the eastern portion of parking lot 5. The loss of parking spaces comes as a cost of the construction fence that will be put up on April 1, setting the perimeter of the new housing facility.
“There’s going to be a substantial loss in parking, but it takes substantial measures to birth a new resident hall,” Zetmeyer said. “There has always been a need for campus wide parking planing, but there is also great need for new residency. We need both if we hope to grow. ”
