OUSC pass MSU v. Oakland basketball game bill and approve 2014 Winter Budget.

            A bill for student transportation to the MSU v. Oakland basketball game was passed, the Winter 2014 Budget was passed, and three new Tailgate Committee Members were approved at the Nov. 25 Oakland University Student Congress (OUSC) meeting.

            Marlee Hanna, legislator and head of the Tailgate Committee, presented C.B. 14-11. The bill provides promos and transportation to this years MSU v. Oakland men’s basketball game

            Promos include rally towels for students to bring to the game. Students will be transported to the game by two school buses.  The bill will cost a total of $1,050.

            Tickets for the game are not included in this bill. Students can purchase tickets at the O’Arena for $10 or through The Palace of Auburn Hills.

            The MSU v. Oakland men’s basketball game will be held at The Palace of Auburn Hills on Dec. 14, 2013.

            Congress also approved the Winter 2014 Budget. Changes to the original proposed budget include an increase from $2,000 to $2,500 for the Trip to Detroit, an increase from $3,000 to $4,000 for OUSC Advertising and $5,000 added for tailgates for various sporting events.

             This puts the total categorized funds for the Winter 2014 Budget at $114,595, with $142,000 in total funds available to OUSC.

            OUSC members were happy to put more money towards events such as tailgating and marketing initiatives such as Facebook advertisements.

            Three students were approved to Marlee Hanna’s Tailgate Committee. Victoria Franso, Jorge Garcia, Shauna Rae Hazime were unanimously approved by Congress.

            OUSC always welcomes student comments or students who want to get involved in student government. Meetings are held every Monday at 4 PM at the Oakland Room in the Oakland Center.
