Hello to all!

I want to welcome you all to my new blog. I am the Music Guy, Kevin Romanchik.

If you’re familiar with the Scene section of The Oakland Post, for about a year we were running a weekly column called “Music Spotlight.”

What began as a simple album review of Athlete’s “Black Swan” turned into full articles containing concert reviews and band interviews.

Since I took over the position of the Scene section editor, I’m bringing back Music Spotlight, but instead of being mostly print, I believe that it’s better suited for a blog format.

The other major change to Music Spotlight, other than the name, is that instead of just me writing these pieces, I want to have other talented staff and contributing writers help add something that can be much more than a weekly column.

What to expect from this blog:

And everything in between.

We have many big things planned for this summer and the following year.

For instance, The Oakland Post has been invited to cover the famous Lollapalooza festival in Chicago, IL this weekend (August 5-7).

We’re really excited for possibilities of what we can offer, so keep checking back to see what’s new!
