Men’s hockey team gear up for post-season
The Oakland University Division 1 Men’s Hockey team will play in the GLCHL Playoffs this weekend, playing for a higher seed in the National Tournament.
Despite two losses at the hands of Adrian last weekend, the Grizzlies clinched the GLCHL season title and an automatic bid to the ACHA National Tournament on March 2, playing against Mercyhurst in the first round.
Oakland will not know who they will face in the GLCHL playoffs until after the first round on Friday.
“We don’t know who we are playing until Friday night but I don’t think it matters much in terms of preparation since we have played the other conference teams four times each so we all should know what to expect,” said Director of Hockey Operations, Corey Hagood.
“It’s a team game and everybody that we can get healthy and in to the lineup helps tremendously,” defenseman Dustin Hopfner said, concerning playoffs.
The Golden Grizzlies will also finish the Good Luck Duck series against Davenport on Feb. 24 at the Onyx Ice Arena in Rochester Hills, MI.
