Grizzlies accept CollegeInsider.com tournament invitation
For the fourth consecutive year, the Oakland University men’s basketball team (17-15) will be playing in the post season with the accepted bid to play in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament.
The Golden Grizzlies will host the opening round on March 14 at 7 p.m. in the O’rena.
“I’m very excited to reach postseason for the fourth consecutive year,” Head Coach Greg Kampe said. “It is quite an accomplishment when you consider who we lost off last year’s team. I am happy for our players and to be able to host makes it even sweeter.”
The Grizzlies will find out who they will compete against on Monday, after Sunday’s selections for the NCAA tournament and National Invitational Tournament are completed.
Oakland participated in the CIT in 2009 and defeated Kent State 80-74 in the opening round, but fell short to Bradley in the second round, losing 76-74.
Students can get into the game for free, while non-students tickets cost as low as $7. Tickets are available at ticketmaster.com and OUgrizzlies.com
