Keith Benson called up to the Golden State Warriors
Multiple reports came out Friday night (first reported by Sioux Falls Skyforce broadcaster Daniel Peters) that former Oakland star center Keith Benson has been called up from the NBA D-league to the Golden State Warriors and is expected to be in uniform tonight against the Sacramento Kings.
Benson has spent two months on the Skyforce roster and averaged 15.2 points-per-game and 7.8 rebounds over 20 games. Kito scored a season-high 27 points, eight blocks and 10 rebounds against Erie Bay Hawks on March 3.
A native of Farmington Hills, Mich., Benson was the first Oakland player to be drafted into the NBA and was the 48th pick overall by the Atlanta Hawks in 2011.
During his time with the Grizzlies, Benson collected numerous records and was named the Summit League Player of the Year (2010 and 2011) and the 2010 Lou Henson award winner, which is given to the nation’s top mid-major player.
