Well somehow they did it. The Tigers made the playoffs. A lot of Tigers fans have mixed emotions with the Tigers making the playoffs. Us fans do not know if we should be happy or disappointed as to how we got here.
To recap from my previous article, on Sept. 20 we had a 2 ½ game lead against the Clevleand Guardians. At one point he had a 15 game lead with a bye in the playoffs. Starting tomorrow we will have a 6th seed spot against the Guardians with no bye.
In my opinion we do not deserve this spot. We almost choked a 15 game lead and was on the verge of creating MLB history in having the biggest game lead and almost losing a spot in the playoffs. Fans believe we don’t deserve the spot either. Fans were calling the Tigers playoff push as a “collapse.”
On the other hand, Fans are indeed rejoicing on the fact that we are in the playoffs and it represents that Detroit is a gritty and hardworking city. The fans state that Tigers are a perfect resemblance on how each citizen in Detroit and throughout Michigan act. When we are down we get back up.
These MLB playoffs however have stacked and loaded teams. In the American League on one side of the bracket we have the Detroit Tigers (6 seed) and the Cleveland Guardians (3 seed). The winner of this best of three series plays the Seattle Mariners (2 seed). On the other side of the bracket the Red Sox (5 seed) play their bitter all-time rival the New York Yankees (4 seed). The winner of this series plays the Toronto Blue Jays (1 seed).
In the National League one half of the bracket has the Cincinnati Reds (6 seed) playing the Los Angeles Dodgers (3 seed). The winner of this series plays the most likely World Series Winner, Philadelphia Phillies (2 seed). One the other half of the bracket the San Diego Padres (5 seed) play the Chicago Cubs (4 seed). The winner of this series plays the Milwaukee Brewers (1 seed).
To talk odds for the winner of the World Series, the Tigers have the 9th best odds to win at +1800. The Phillies have the most likely odds with +400.
In this upcoming series for the Tigers we are favored by -165 with Guardians being the underdogs at +140.
Overall you can either doubt or believe in the Detroit Tigers. Just remember they resemble the heart of Michigan by being hardworking and being gritty. Let’s root for them tomorrow and the rest of the playoffs.
