Oakland basketball to participate in Summit League Food Fight

Fans are invited to bring in canned food and coins to the men’s basketball games Feb. 7 and Feb. 9. All donations will benefit the Baldwin Center of Pontiac.

At the end of the Food Fight schedule, the Summit League school with the most amount of food, measured in pounds, will be declared the winner.

Senior forward Drew Valentine took to his Twitter page to encourage fans to donate to the cause.

“Every1 coming to the O’rena this weekend, it’d be awesome if you could contribute any change or canned food to help OU in the SL food fight,” Valentine tweeted.

In addition, members of the men’s basketball team will be collecting coins in the Oakland Center Thursday and Friday from 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

Head coach Greg Kampe also went to his Twitter followers to drum up support for the Food Fight.

“If you’re coming to game tomorrow night (and you better be) please bring canned food to help support the Summit League food fight campaign,” Kampe tweeted.

The Grizzlies take on North Dakota State Feb. 7 at 7:00 p.m and South Dakota State Feb. 9 at 5:00 p.m.
