Bader by the numbers
Travis Bader set the all-time NCAA career record for 3-pointers made on Sunday, Feb. 2 against the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.
Bader can now be viewed as the best shooter in NCAA history, but just how great is he compared to other great college shooters?
— Bader passed J.J. Redick, the former Duke superstar that now plays in the NBA for the Los Angeles Clippers. Redick made 457-of-1126 (40.4 percent) 3-pointers in his four years at Duke.
— Although Bader has the most made 3-pointers, he is only third all-time in attempts. Keydren Clark, a guard for Saint Peter’s from 2002-2006 has the most attempts at 1192. Bader will likely surpass Clark’s attempts record, while making a much higher percentage.
— In fact, of the top five players in career 3-pointers made, Bader has hit the second-highest percentage.
— Among the top 25 career leaders in makes, Bader has the 13th highest percentage. Former Creighton forward and current Atlanta Hawk Kyle Korver has the highest percentage at 45.3.
— Bader is in good company in the top 25 list: star point guard for the Golden State Warriors, Steph Curry, checks in at seventh all-time in career makes, shooting 41.2 percent.
— Through 128 career games, Bader has made 461 threes, an average of 3.65 makes per game. Among active players, Bader trails only Marshall Henderson and Damon Lynn in 3-point field goals per game.
— Bader made his first career three on Nov. 12, 2010, at West Virginia in his inaugural OU game as a redshirt freshman. He was 3-for-8 in that game from 3-point range.
— His 100th three came on the road against the Arkansas Razorbacks on Nov. 16, 2011. He shot 7-for-14 in a tough loss.
— Number 200 happened on March 4, 2012, in a home victory over Summit League opponent Southern Utah. Bader was 6-of-11 in that game from behind the arc.
— The 300th make came against South Dakota on Jan. 19, 2013, a game in which Bader was 5-of-15 from downtown.
— Finally, the 400th three was drained at the Palace against Michigan State back in December 2013. Bader shot 4-of-14 from three in that game.
— Bader totaled 94 threes in his redshirt freshman season, 124 as a sophomore, 139 as a junior and has made 104 so far this season. Using his career average for makes, and assuming Oakland only plays the minimum of eight remaining games, Bader is on pace to finish this season with 132 makes and 489 on his career.
