Sporting blitz week of 4/02
Track and Field-
The Oakland University Track and Field team cancelled their plans to travel to a Cincinnati meet due to inclement weather. The team will start the spring season April 5th at Detroit.
Men’s Basketball-
Travis Bader was named to the Lou Henson mid-major All-American team for the second straight season. Bader is also eligible for the mid-major player of the year. Two other Horizon players were named to the list, Green Bay’s Alec Brown and Kiefer Sykes.
Bader was also named to the Division I-AAA Athletics Directors Association Scholar-Athlete Team for the third straight year. Bader earned his undergraduate degree in communications and will graduate with a master’s degree this May. Bader currently boasts a 3.51 grade point average in the communications graduate program.
Men’s Baseball-
The early season cancellations continued for the Oakland University baseball team. This weekend, the continuing cold weather forced the team to cancel their home series against Valparaiso. The Golden Grizzlies are scheduled to head to Milwaukee for a Horizon League series this weekend.
Women’s Softball-
The Oakland University women’s softball team announced several schedule changes due to the early season weather issues. The home opening series with Detroit, scheduled for last weekend, has been postponed and the series at Morehead State has been moved to this week, previously scheduled for March 8th and 9th. This weekend, the Grizzlies are hoping to host Cleveland State for a three game series beginning April 5th.
