Sporting blitz week of Sept. 10
Men’s Basketball
Sept. 3: Oakland University men’s basketball will hold open tryouts on Wednesday, Sept. 10 from 10-11 a.m. inside the O’rena. The tryouts are only open to full-time Oakland students that are enrolled in Fall 2014. All potential walk-ons MUST complete the following prior to trying out:
1) Download the “New Athlete” medical forms available on OUGrizzlies.com.
2) Fill out necessary paper work.
3) Obtain a physical by a licensed physician within the last year.
4) Bring a copy of your class schedule to prove full-time enrollment.
5) Bring the appropriate insurance information, proof of physical and all other paperwork to the tryouts.

Women’s Basketball
OU women’s basketball has announced their 2014-15 non-conference schedule. Oakland will host Chicago State (Nov. 23), Miami (OH) (Nov. 28) and Indiana (Dec. 20) and travel to Miami (FL) (Nov. 14), Michigan State (Nov. 26) and Central Michigan (Dec. 28).
Cross Country
Sept. 6: Both the Oakland University men’s and women’s cross country teams finished fifth at the 28th Annual Running Fit-Detroit Titan Cross Country Invitational at Cass Benton Park. Alex West finished 22nd with a time of 21:25.01 in the men’s four-mile race while Abby Bringard placed 26th in the women’s 5K at 19:42.51. The OU cross country teams travel next to Kenosha, Wisconsin Saturday, Sept. 13 for the UW-Parkside Midwest Open.
Men’s Soccer
Sept. 5: The men’s soccer match between Oakland and Marshall was cancelled due to inclement weather. The teams will look to reschedule the game at a later date. The game began on time at the OU Soccer Field but in the fourth minute lightning was seen in the area and was delayed. During the delay a storm front came through the Rochester area, making the field unplayable. The Golden Grizzlies (0-2) begin a two-game road trip in Colorado next week beginning with a game at Denver Friday, Sept. 12 at 9 p.m. ET.
Women’s Soccer
Sept. 5: Oakland (1-5) fell to Central Michigan (1-2-1) by a score of 2-1at the CMU Soccer Complex. OU’s Kyla Kellermann scored her second goal of the season off of an assist from Alice Palmer for the Golden Grizzlies’ lone score of the night.
Volleyball
Sept. 5-6: The Golden Grizzlies (3-5) got off to a rough start at the Tiger Invitational, losing their first three games. However, they finished off strong by defeating Missouri 3-1 in sets of 25-19, 23-25, 25-19 and 25-11 Saturday evening in the final game for the Golden Grizzlies at the Tiger Invitational. Missouri (3-3) was the 2013 SEC tournament champion and a preseason top-15 team by American Volleyball Coaches Association. Oakland redshirt freshman Sammy Condon led the way with 14 kills and four blocks.
