Valentine’s Day Décor and treats
Whether you’re having a romantic dinner at your house with a special someone, or simply just want to dress up your room for the holiday and make treats for your friends, these V-day inspired crafts and treats are perfect for just that.
Centerpiece Vases:
Romantic Glitter vase:
What you will need:
- A large glass cake holder
- A pack of floating candles
- Red glitter sand
Instructions:
- First dump the red glitter sand into the cake holder.
- Then, fill the holder with water. Some sand will rise to the top, but let it sit for a bit until the cloudiness in the water goes away and all sand has drifted to the bottom. You will also notice all of the glitter from the sand floats to the top, creating the perfect V-day look.
- Light 4 floating candles and place them in the holder.
Heart wand vase:
What you will need:
- A smaller vase. I chose one with a small neck and opening.
- Valentine’s Day M&M’s
- Hearts on a stick. These can usually be found in the flower section at any local grocery store. They’re super cheap too, which is a plus.
Instructions:
- Pour the M&M’s into the vase. This is kind of tricky since the opening of the vase is so tiny. To make it easier, use a funnel to pour them into the vase. This will prevent the candies from going everywhere.
- Cut the wooden sticks on the hearts a little bit shorter. They come on a very long stick, and in my opinion it just looks better when they aren’t sticking out so far from the vase.
- Stick the heart wands into the vase and place it in your room or on the kitchen table for a more fun and simple look.
Colorful candy heart vase:
What you will need:
- One bag of V-day candy hearts
- Any vase of your choice
- Flowers. I chose pink tulips since they’re my favorite, but of course you can pick any ones that you like. I would stay away from any dark color flowers like red roses, because they don’t quite go with the colorful candies.
Instructions:
- Pour the bag of hearts into the vase
- Place the flowers in the vase. I know what you’re thinking; this was probably the hardest DIY ever.
Valentine’s Day-inspired treats:
White chocolate pretzels:
What you will need:
- A cookie sheet
- Wax paper
- One bag of larger hard pretzels
- One bag of white chocolate candy melts
- Heart sprinkles
Instructions:
- Pour half the bag of candy melts into a microwave safe bowl. Heat them in 30-second intervals and stir in between.
- Once you have made enough chocolate for as many pretzels as you want, begin dipping the pretzels into the chocolate. Only cover the top half of the pretzel. Also, you can use a spoon to do this if it’s easier. Then, place the pretzels on wax paper layered over a cookie sheet.
- Sprinkle the heart sprinkles all over the pretzels.
White chocolate kettle corn:
What you will need:
- One bag of kettle corn
- One bag of candy melts (I used the other half of the bag from the pretzels and it was the perfect amount.)
- Candy hearts
Instructions:
- Pop the popcorn and dump it into a large bowl.
- Heat the candy melts in 30-second intervals just like for the pretzels and stir in between.
- Once you have melted the chocolate, dump it all over the kettle corn. Shake the kettle corn around so that the chocolate is spread evenly.
- Then, dump the colorful candy hearts into the bowl and shake this around as well.
- These create the perfect treat for you and a loved one, or place it in separate baggies to give to all of your friends. It’s delicious.
Other décor for the complete look:
You probably have noticed all of the other props such as the love sign, heart placemat and heart dish I used in the photos. I found everything at my local Meijer. If you are going to be having a V-day party or your special someone over, this complete look is perfect for either one. I chose to lay out all the centerpieces and treats together. Then, I sprinkled the left over candy hearts all over the table. I love the way it turned out. It’s festive and fun for the perfect V-day occasion.
