DIY Easter egg bath bombs:
Who doesn’t love a good bath once in a while? These homemade bath bombs are the perfect touch to not only make your bath smell amazing, but they look amazing at the same time. Plus, they’re super fun to make.
Ingredients for 6 large bath bombs (add more of each ingredient to make more):
- 8 oz. of baking soda
- 4 oz. of cornstarch
- 4 oz. of Epsom salt
- 4 oz. of citric acid
- 3 teaspoons water
- 2 teaspoons of fragrance oil
- 2-5 drops of food coloring
- Confetti sprinkles
- Large plastic Easter eggs
Here’s what to do:
You are going to start off by making two different mixtures, one for the dry ingredients and one for the wet ingredients. In one bowl mix the Epsom salt, cornstarch, baking soda and citric acid and mix it with a whisk. In the other bowl combine water, fragrance oil and food coloring. Then, combine your wet mixture and dry one and whisk together. You will notice the mixture start to clump a little and it should stick together. If not, add a tiny bit more water but not too much because it will ruin your entire mixture, trust me! The mixture may seem a bit dry but this is normal. Next, take the eggs and add confetti sprinkles to each one. You can add this two both sides or just one, depending on how you want your bath bombs to look. Then, pack the mixture tightly into both sides of the plastic eggs. Make sure there are no air pockets. Also, do not pack the mixture to the top of each side because the acid makes i expand anyway. Push the sides together and let them sit for about 15 minutes on a towel covered with wax paper.
Side notes:
- The color and scent of your bath bombs is up to you. I chose lavender fragrance oil that smells amazing and violet food coloring to make the bath bombs purple.
- I found that citric acid is extremely hard to fine. I walked around Meijer and numerous other stores for a while before getting my hands on it. You can order it online or get it from health stores. Also, I believe Wal-Mart carries it.
