Arianna Heyman, Editor-in-Chief
Arianna Heyman is the Editor-In-Chief of The Oakland Post. She is a senior pursuing a double major in Journalism and Communication. She was drawn to both majors by her love of history and writing. Arianna is also a fervent follower of all current national and international political affairs.
Arianna seeks opportunities to interview people of interest with diverse stories and backgrounds. Two of her most prominent interviews have been with Congresswoman Haley Stevens and Washington Post Photographer Salwan Georges. While serving as Features Editor during the 2022-2023 academic year, Arianna had the opportunity to attend the second Gubernatorial Debate held on the campus of Oakland University, as a member of the working press. This allowed her to attend the post debate conference where she had the opportunity to present questions to candidate Tudor Dixon.
Arianna has also written a number of columns and articles for The Oakland Post. Some of her more noteworthy contributions were “OU graduate student safe after fleeing from Ukraine,” “The concerning rise of antisemitism on college campuses” and “OU alumnus and Washington Post photojournalist details coverage in Ukraine.”
Arianna looks forward to using her journalistic skills as Editor-In-Chief and aspires to continue The Oakland Post’s legacy of excellence.
After graduation, Arianna hopes to work in broadcast news. She has also not ruled out the possibility of seeking a career as a writer or columnist for a major newspaper.
Arianna is an avid fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Tigers. She also enjoys traveling, attending concerts and spending time with friends and family.
