I Commute From … Macomb Township

Brad Jeffers commutes from one of Michigan’s fastest growing major municipalities: Macomb Township.

The senior journalism major has a great interest in sports and enjoys writing about and playing them.

“Babe Ruth used to vacation in Macomb,” said Jeffers, offering an interesting fact.

During his 35 to 40 minute commute, he listens to his MP3 player on shuffle mode. Jeffers prefers to take the side streets “because morning traffic on M-59 is just silly.”

Though he works over 50 hours a week, Jeffers spends his free time watching movies at area movie theaters and going to Buffalo Wild Wings. “There are just a few bars and bowling alleys; just typical stuff like that,” said Jeffers.

With three Macomb locations, Hamlin Pub is also a good place to hang out. Though the city is quickly growing, there is still country charm.

“I like the fact that it’s a friendly and safe community,” said Jeffers.

Diversity is also important to Jeffers. “The best part about where I live is the fact that there are so many people from so many places,” said Jeffers.

One thing you can’t get anywhere else? Erma’s Frozen Custard is a local favorite. Located outside downtown Utica, Erma’s has been serving original soft serve frozen custard with special ingredients for over 60 years.
