Students to make sandwiches for the hungry

Students have the chance to help make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, which will be distributed to the hungry in the local areas Feb. 13 from noon to 1 p.m. This annual event will take place in the Gold Rooms of the Oakland Center. A large number of students will be needed to help with this event.

 

Center for Multicultural Initiatives to host ‘Taste of Africa Gala’

The Center for Multicultural Initiatives will host this gala Feb. 13 from 4 to 7 p.m. This event will feature food, dances and art from African culture.

The Department of English Poetry Contest to begin Feb. 15

The Ekphrasis Poetry Contest begins Feb 15 and is open to current Oakland University students, alumni, faculty and staff members excluding creative writing faculty.

The contest asks contestants to write an evocative poetic description of an art object. Entries are due by March 15 at 5 p.m. Cash prizes will be awarded for the best work.
