For the second time in the same day, the Oakland University chapter of American Association of University Professors union bargaining team walked out on negotiations with Oakland University's bargaining team, setting the stage for a hearing in front of Oakland County Circuit Judge Edward Sosnick on Wednesday morning and prompting the university to cancel a fourth consecutive day of classes.

With the launch of Oakland University's bike share program, students now have a healthy way of getting around campus quickly. The OU Bike Share Kickoff took place Thursday outside the Oakland Center between North and South Foundation halls.

Come mid-September, Oakland University will have a new marketing slogan on its local billboards. The "You can afford this" campaign will be replaced with the transitional slogan, "A smart investment," which is already displayed on the OU homepage.

The OU administration and the faculty union met in the Oakland County Circuit Court today at 10 a.m. Judge Edward Sosnick told both parties to keep negotiating til evening if necessary. He feels there's hope for progress. Both parties have til 10 a.m. tomorrow or a hearing will be held for final ruling.

While the OU administration doesn't comment on ongoing contract negotiations and what it's offering the faculty, John Beaghan, OU's vice president for finance and administration responded to some of the financial claims the faculty union has been making in an interview with The Oakland Post on Friday afternoon.
