A Master of Public Health degree was just one of the many topics discussed at the Oakland University Board of Trustees meeting April 3.
Other items up for discussion included the appointment of a distinguished professor, proposed ancillary budgets for the 2013-15 operational year, renovations to housing and on-campus amenities like the recreational center and the Oakland Center and the recognition of three student award winners.

Oakland University Student Congress held its last meeting Monday in the Gold Rooms of the Oakland Center, and ended with farewells from the departing Student Body president and vice president, Samantha Wolf and Robbie Williford.The meeting began with talks on the committee to amend the current OUSC Constitution.

Oakland University will host its first Anatomy Memorial Ceremony April 11 from 6 to 7 p.m. The ceremony was created to honor those who have donated their bodies to science.

Take Back the Night was held March 28 to round off Women’s History Month and led into Sexual Assault Awareness Month at Oakland University. The event, sponsored by the Gender and Sexuality Center, consisted of a rally, march and speak-out.

In the wake of last week’s election results, losing candidates Amera Fattah and Maria Arellano lost 40 percent of the total vote due to grievances that were filed against them by the Brandon Hanna and Jibran Ahmed campaign.

As students walked past the Fireside Lounge March 18, a 39-inch TV sat on a table to spark their curiosity. Students had the chance to win this TV as well as an iPod Nano at Bear Bus Day. The event was sponsored by the Bear Bus program, Residence Halls Association and Oakland University Student Congress, and offered students a chance to gain some knowledge.

University President, Gary Russi, announced March 22 that current interim dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, Tamara Jhashi, has been invited to join the American Council on Education Fellowship Class of 2013-14.
