The club was founded at Oakland back in 1997 by Sensei Deric Wilkins, who still teaches and runs the club today. Aikido is a Japanese martial art used mainly for defense and is useful for people of any stature.

Deep in the basement of the Science and Engineering Building is the home to a very special and unique class. Biology 206, also known as Human Anatomy Laboratory, is not only known for its difficulty, but for its use of hands-on study tools. Students are allowed to use human cadavers to get a literal “hands on” approach to studying the human body.

With the end of winter near, Oakland’s club rugby team played the opening game for their spring season with a 53-10 win at home against Wayne State March 16. The team has already gotten a head start by getting the team together to practice and to discuss the schedule for the new season.

Oakland University’s fencing club competed in a national competition at Notre Dame University this past weekend. The competition featured a chance for fencers to compete in individual and team categories. The team ended their season strong by placing high in the rankings against other clubs and NCAA-ranked teams.
