A 20-year-old female student was hit by a vehicle while riding her bike on campus at approximately 10 a.m. this morning, according to Oakland University Police Lieutenant Terry Ross.

The bicyclist was transported to Crittenton Hospital in Rochester for treatment. Her injuries do not appear to be serious.

The accident took place while the student was crossing Pioneer Drive to Parking Lot 16. The driver of the vehicle, also a 20-year-old female, was not injured.

The accident is still under investigation by OUPD.

This is the second time this week an accident involving a bike and a vehicle has occurred on campus.

Yesterday, an OU faculty member riding a bike was struck by a vehicle at the University and Squirrel Road intersection around 5 p.m. The faculty member was transported to the hospital for treatment, according to Ross. The accident is currently under investigation by the Auburn Hills Police Department.

The Oakland Post will continue to update this story as more information becomes available.
