Locals seek new routes from construction
Summer brings out the orange barrels in Michigan, and there is no shortage all around Oakland University.
The M-59 construction between Adams and Crooks road is looking at a projected finish date in December, restoring guardrails and paving the outside lanes of the freeway. Drivers looking to enter westbound M-59 at Crooks or exit onto Crooks heading eastbound will need to seek new routes until November.
The resurfacing of Adams road between South boulevard and Auburn currently has the road shut off. It is projected to open soon to intermittent lane closures until November.
“I don’t like how they shut down long stretches of road while only working on a small section,” Miles Kruse, Senior in Sociology, said. “It nearly doubles my travel time to class.”
Near downtown Rochester, the Parkdale bridge between Main Street and Dequindre road is looking to near completion in early October.
Lane closures at the intersection of Avon and Livernois due to bridge construction is slated to start in 2012.
