Faculty awarded NSF Grants for science and technology

The National Science Foundation has awarded more than $1.6 million in grant funding to members of Oakland University’s faculty.

The grant money will be used to fund the research of faculty members and to establish a scholarship program for aspiring math and science teachers.

The Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program was founded by three faculty members with the help of the NSF’s grant of more than $893,000.

Established math and science professionals will be invited to enroll in the Master of Arts in Teaching program with tuition and other expenses covered.

Faculty members receiving grants for their research include Nessan Kerrigan, an assistant professor of organic chemistry who received $340,000, and physics professor Ken Elder, who received $242,000.
