Summit League awards announced: Eight Grizzlies garner honors

The Summit League announced it’s end-of-year awards today for men’s and women’s basketball. Eight Golden Grizzlies received recognition by the league.

Junior center Keith Benson was voted conference Player of the Year and was selected First Team all-conference.

Oakland University head coach Greg Kampe was chosen as the Summit League’s Coach of the Year.

Additionally, senior point guard Johnathon Jones was also selected First Team all-conference.

On the women’s side, senior forward Melissa Jeltema was voted First Team all-Summit League.

Freshman Bethany Watterworth garnered Second Team and All-Newcomer honors, while senior Hanna Reising was named the Sixth Woman of the Year.
